Guest chrisH Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 What a nightmare. Spent over 14 hours removing the old one and putting on a new one.2 hours of that was going to pick up the pump and having me bacon butty. If anyone is attempting this for the first time, try and have somebody around who's done it before. The actual proceedure is straight forward as per the Haynes but its knowing which nuts and bolts they are talking about and which parts. I should have looked at the TIS as well before i started. Off comes the underbody trayOff comes the top engine coverOff with the air filter & MAFOff with some of the Air filter ducting (that is riveted on) Off comes the 2 AUX beltsDrain CoolantOff comes the AlternatorOff comes the air con pumpOff comes the steering pumpOff comes the steering pump bracketOff comes the Alternator bracket Hello Water pump. Now work out how that is held on without the TIS (What a pain, easy when you know how) Swap pumpClean all parts as you put them back onRefill coolant Cross Fingers Wow, no leak and nice quiet car again. I replaced the AUX belts a while back and i probably overtightened the bottom one. not this time though. Good luck to anyone who try this without prior knowledge. Anyone in the Liverpool area i'll be glad to help supervise. Quote
